Withdrawal & Healing: You Are Accomplishing Something Special!
Aug 17, 2026Negative self-talk can become amplified during antidepressant withdrawal and benzodiazepine withdrawal. And while a person needs encouragement (including self-encouragement) more than anything to persevere in a healing process, the opposite can occur, with the worst criticisms often coming from the voice in one’s own head.
That negative voice might tell you something like the following:
“This is needless suffering.”
“This pain is all because I screwed up somehow.”
“Life is being wasted because of this.”
But none of these are true. The truth is that you are accomplishing something special in this healing process day in and out. With a sizeable percentage of the modern population taking these antidepressant and benzo medications, the goal of getting off them for the sake of bettering health & wellness becomes even more laudable.
The tapering and healing process can be difficult, but oftentimes the most worthwhile goals in life come with greater difficulties. Remember, you are doing something to improve your health and wellness in this process, and while it might be the toughest challenge you’ve ever faced it will also come with payoff in the long run. And you can be very proud of it all!
In this video we will talk about ways to put your situation into the proper context of great accomplishment, and also about cultivating a habit of greater self-encouragement that celebrates all of your personal wins and victories!
Please enjoy the video, and keep up the good work. You are accomplishing something special!
