Tapering antidepressant or benzo medications can be confusing

Moving in the Direction of Your Goals

I’ve recently put out a video that talks through the potential downsides of updosing a medication. And although you might not be considering updosing, or perhaps you are already done tapering, I think that there are still important themes in this video that you’ll find useful.

Namely, try to keep moving in the direction of your larger goals. Each day—each week—we make choices. As you do so, try to be thoughtful in your choices.

Consider how they affect both the short-term and long-term for you. Ask yourself, are the decisions I’m making in line with the bigger picture of what I’m trying to do in healing and growth?

Again, this healing process is individual in many respects. The right choice for one person might not be the right one for someone else.

My new video, as with the rest of my approach to healing, isn’t taking a hard line on a “one-size-fits-all” solution. But rather, it is encouraging everyone to hopefully be thoughtful rather than reactive in the choices made week by week.

So simply think through your choices, and talk through them with others you trust.

And in all matters, try to do things that move you continually in the direction of your larger goals.
