RFK Jr.'s Antidepressant Reforms Bring Hope to a Broken System!

Recently RFK Jr. and his Department of Health and Human Services announced sweeping measures to reduce antidepressant use and dependence in America. For decades America has been operating under the unchecked influence of Big Pharma companies and their antidepressant propaganda and overprescription. The medications are relentlessly marketed to the masses; there is little to no discussion of potential downsides (side effects, tolerance, withdrawal effects); and most people who begin taking the medications do so for much longer than intended (often “indefinitely”) with little review of the situation by professionals or discussion of natural and effective treatments for mental and emotional struggles.

Finally, there is little education regarding the cessation of these medications (i.e., tapering), or professional support available when an individual chooses to do so.

RFK Jr. and HHS seek to bring meaningful change to the situation, and from what I’ve seen so far I’m hopeful. As someone who was on the SSRI Paxil for a dozen years and then endured a protracted and difficult withdrawal when quitting the medication, I know firsthand the damage these medications can do and the need for change in the medical community and in public education regarding them.

In this video I will read from the Health and Human Services press release put out in May of 2026 that discusses RFK’s new initiatives aimed at increased patient autonomy, informed consent, and the promotion of holistic and natural measures for the treatment of conditions such as anxiety and depression.

For the first time in America’s brief but sordid history with antidepressants there is an authoritative government voice that is speaking about common sense alternatives and the need for change. This should be a step in the right direction!
